Collection: Image Comics
Image Comics was founded in 1992 by a group of comic book artists who had grown tired of the traditional way of doing things in the industry. Some of those artists were Todd McFarlane, Jim Lee, Rob Liefeld, Marc Silvestri and Erik Larsen.
The founding of Image was a landmark moment in the comic book industry because it marked a significant departure from the traditional publisher/creator relationship. Unlike other comic book publishers, Image allowed its creators to retain ownership of the characters and concepts they created. This gave the creators more creative control and financial independence, which was a big deal in an industry that had historically been dominated by publishers.
Since its inception, Image Comics has published a wide variety of titles that have become fan favorites and cultural touchstones. Some of the most popular Image Comics titles include "Spawn," "The Walking Dead," "Saga," and "Invincible," to name just a few. These titles have been praised for their innovative storytelling, unique characters and stunning artwork.
Today, Image Comics remains one of the most important publishers in the comic book industry. Its unique business model has inspired other publishers to adopt similar practices and its influence can be seen in the work of countless creators who have been inspired by the groundbreaking titles that they've published over the years.
