Griz Grobus Gets a New Paperback Edition

Image Comics is releasing a paperback edition of the popular webcomic Griz Grobus this June 2024.

Created by Simon Roy (Prophet, Jan's Atomic Heart) and Jess Pollard, with colors by Sergey Nazarov, Griz Grobus was originally a Kickstarter sensation that raised nearly $70K in its campaign.

The story is set in the same sci-fi universe as Roy's Habitat but focuses on the rural world of Altamira, where post-utopian frontier life has taken a more wholesome turn.

The trade paperback (ISBN: 9781534397866) will be available in local comic book shops on Wednesday, June 5.

Griz Grobus is a standalone fable with two parallel narratives in the far-off colony world of Altamira. In one storyline, a young scribe's academic ambitions lead to the revival of an ancient colonial-era priest-bot.

The second narrative is Altamira's most famous novel, where a war-god gets trapped in a goose's body and a pacifist cook tries to delay the god's return to the battlefield.

The comic has received high praise from various creators, including Kieron Gillen, Tonči Zonjić, Carlos P. Valderrama, Daniel Warren Johnson, Jed McKay, Ben Templesmith, and Adrian Tchaikovsky, among others.

Griz Grobus promises to be a captivating read for fans of Hiyao Miyazaki, Asterix, and Arthur C. Clarke.

Revival Gets a Trade Paperback

The popular comic book series "Revival," which combines elements of the zombie genre with a rural noir setting, will be collected into a complete compendium paperback edition this September.

The series, by writer Tim Seeley, artist Mike Norton, and colorist Mark Englert, tells the story of a small town in Wisconsin where the dead have come back to life.

Officer Dana Cypress must deal with the media scrutiny, religious zealots, and government quarantine that has followed, all while trying to solve the murder of her own sister.

The "Revival Compendium" will include issues #1-47 of the Harvey Award nominated series, as well as additional behind-the-scenes content.

It is set to be released on September 11 at local comic book shops.

"Revival" has been praised for its chilling storytelling and moody art, with reviewers comparing it to shows like "Fargo" and "Twin Peaks," as well as other zombie genre titles such as "The Walking Dead" and "Six Feet Under."

The series has sold over 1 million copies across all formats since its launch in 2012, and continues to be one of Image Comics' most popular backlist titles. Both Seeley and Norton have expressed their excitement about the upcoming collection, with Seeley stating that they always saw "Revival" as one, massive self-contained story. Norton added that the series is near and dear to his heart and that he's excited for a new audience to discover it.

The duo's daily routine involves tedious police work, but things take a turn when they become embroiled in an inter-time serial homicide mystery.

The book promises to be a fun and escapist read, filled with 80s and 90s science fiction, comedy, and police procedural elements. Rifters #1 will be available at comic book shops on Wednesday, June 12.
